The Price Family started the facility back in 1910 and it picked up the name Deagle’s Marine Railway when Captain Lee Deagle purchased the business in 1934. His son Ed helped grow the business and at that time it became a major haul out facility between Baltimore, Maryland and Norfolk, Virginia. It is said that some very famous Chesapeake Bay sailing vessels and working boats willingly gave up their masts, booms, and sails to become motor-powered boats here.

With a century-long track record, ours is probably one of the longest-running marine facilities on the Chesapeake Bay. We have serviced and sheltered a virtual sea of vessels, from working Bugeyes and Skipjacks to steel tugboats and World War II sub chasers. We’ve seen and repaired PT boats and John F. Kennedy’s famed floating White House – the luxurious 62 ft sailing yacht, The Manitou.

Today’s facility, renamed Chesapeake Boat Works, is owned and operated by two brothers, Rick and Jon Farinholt. Over the years, as boats have evolved from wood to steel to fiberglass, our experience and skill set has grown too. Today we offer expert services for all types of boats, from sail to power. Whether your boat is fiberglass, steel, wood, or aluminum, we offer skilled craftsmen and expert technicians along with the experience and knowledge acquired from a century of boat repair and service.

We have recently added another location at the mouth of the Rappahannock on Broad Creek to better serve the boating community in the area. Stingray Point Boat Works, operated by brother Lee Farinholt, is a full-service boat yard offering storage for boats up to 50' loa with a maximum beam of 15' and a 22 ton weight limit.
